Silent Hill 0rigins


That of Silent Hill is one of the sagas worship in the world of video games. Konami born at home in the late 90's, this brand is characterized by the particularity with which it deals with the horror theme: unlike his great rival, Resident Evil, Silent Hill deliberately put into the background and gameplay action that the way to raise the terror line of games from Capcom, to bet on a game system more rational and atmospheres horror / psychological thriller, in which not to frighten, for example, particular moments of the script, but the visual context, the music, the perennial sense of vulnerability you feel walking the streets of the town disastrous.

It must be said that the death of Team Silent, head of the first four chapters of the saga, three were the development team who have tried to keep the franchise on a high level of quality: Double Helix (which failed miserably Homecoming with ), Vatra (working on Silent Hill Downpour ) and Climax, which instead has been able to churn out two episodes of respect, one closer to the stylistic features of the saga (the ' 0rigins I'm going to review) and a more innovative (that Shattered Memories beloved by me), but equally terrifying.

0rigins Silent Hill, dated 2007, has long been one of the spearheads of softech PlayStation Portable, also enjoyed a port on the legendary PlayStation 2 and represents the last (so far) iteration of the real brand, or with all the pros and cons that have always distinguished the saga: taken from some locations more often, as the dismal Alchemilla Hospital or Riverside Motel, the typical direction of frames made bold and insuali, through a bestiary somewhere between dreams a fool and those of a psychopath and the wonderful music written by Akira Yamaoka.

Actually, there is something new: the world of nightmares will not manifest "voluntarily" and suddenly, as in other chapters, but can be accessed only through the mirrors. This feature may take some thrills from back to the user, but overall the level of anxiety and insecurity that comes to hand console is virtually unchanged.

As the title suggests, this iteration of the brand aims at shedding light on the origins of the curse that plagues the village on the shores of Toluca Lake and in doing so will put the player in the footsteps of Travis Grady, a truck driver with a tragic past behind it almost by accident, will encounter the shady characters and disturbing practices carried out by the followers of the God Samael. Accomplice a storyline focused not only on the rituals of worship, but also on the sad past of the protagonist, this chapter will also be a valuable tool to investigate in more dark and mysterious recesses of the mind and human psychology (there are real concepts of psychology hidden between the notes that you can collect in various locations), as well as a good way to understand some details in most of the first (in chronological order) Silent Hill, now dated 1999.

who found himself playing well in previous chapters of the saga, this game will be like coming home: indeed, as already mentioned, the gameplay has remained almost the same of the first four, sumptuous episodes: a base of exploration and puzzles (some very little trivial) served by fighting with monsters and scary boss aberrant.

Some parts of the world game, even if repeated several times over the years as Alchemilla-know-yet give absolute moments of suspense, as they do the new environment. The session all'Arthaud Theatre, for example, is simply brilliant, thanks to the skillful use of dialogue and quotations from The Tempest by William Shakespeare, by the great English playwright, similar to the Konami game (without the proper proportions, of course) has to do with the dichotomy between reality and dimension dreams.

Without too much praise music and sound effects, virtually state of the art on the technical side 0rigins is a minor miracle, with a very good level of graphics that looks good even after many years, as in this case . Artistically, then, although in line with the past, the misty world of reality and reality are distorted inspired and inspire the right amount of anxiety.

Actually, however, some damage to the game are all there: the boss fight seem all too simple if you use sparingly many firearms around the game world: almost as if you were in a paradox, it is much more difficult to survive in "levels" rather than fighting with the boss. Moreover, from the standpoint of longevity, the work of Climax Studio is somewhat deficient: they can reach the end credits in about 4 hours. Intense hours, of course, but that could turn up their noses at many of the buyers in the first hour. I do not consider it a problem, but I think it is worth underlining.

For all the fans, Silent Hill 0rigins has missed a chapter, and is certainly the best starting point for beginners. If I were you, I'd buy it in triplicate. I do not want to offend Dahlia, Dr. Kaufmann and the wicked Samael.
