Beautiful, beautiful, good crap.
I approached the film with undoubtedly high expectations (which could have affected my opinion), because Tim Burton is one of my favorite directors. Not that the film is to throw, but I got the impression that everyone, from Burton to the leading players will be limited to homework. I'll try to explain why.
Let's start by saying that, while dealing with issues similar to the famous works of Lewis Carroll's Alice burtoniana wants to be a sort of sequel of the novels mentioned above, which must not be lost but the salient points and original metaphors such as the importance growth and self-discovery.
The action takes place with a protagonist on the threshold of nineteen years, entangled in a society of strict rules, followed by ceremonial obligations and pressing a society where the young do not recognize. Following a crisis caused by a proposal of marriage, the girl's back in Wonderland (the first trip that he does not remember anything) to fulfill an ancient prophecy.
Not that the plot, although not shine of original ideas, is to burn, but everything that happens on the screen gives a feeling (obviously) of deja vu, a situation worsened by a rhythm of events and dialogues with narcolepsy discount and predictable.
also one of the strengths of almost all the previous work of director in Burbank, which is the scenery and, in general, the artistic aspect of the film, turns out to fall short of expectations and too didactic: it seems that now the context from "black fable" so loved by the director has lost his ability to charm and surprise, as had happened more than once in the past. Even the grotesque courtiers of the Queen of Hearts, a symbol of transformation of the contemporary nobility to Carroll, are all too commonplace. Nor is hidden under the impression that, for Alice in Wonderland, Burton has opted for a less commercial and more authorial, given the huge investments and the cumbersome Disney's presence as producer.
Speaking of acting, then, apart from the acceptable interpretation of Johnny Depp (actor Tim fetish, along with Helena Bonham Carter, his partner) the actor other tests are going on disappointing: Anne Hathaway, in spite of the great talent which has, it seems un'attricetta novice, and even irritating monoespressiva nell'interpetare the White Queen, Helena Bonham Carter now live spaces that her husband cut in every movie, Mia Wasikowska, Alice diaphanous and ethereal, does not go beyond two terms for all 110 minutes of film.
I think the opening sentence of this piece says a lot about what I thought when the transmission is completed. The disappointment was so great and hot. The success claimed throughout the world from the movie (this is the sixth film in history to exceed one billion dollars earned) seems more like the result of the marketing campaign and the weight of the names involved in the project, not the quality of a work that while relying on the help of one of the most eclectic and recognizable on the international scene and a cast of relief, it could be confused for one of the many fantasy post Harry Potter and The Lord of the Rings post of bad taste that peeped in theaters last five years.
