became an international star with the band The Killers, which is singer, songwriter and, ultimately, frontman, Brandon Flowers in 2009 decided to devote himself to a solo career parallel to that of band, with producer Daniel Lanois, producer of the mythological Joshua Tree by U2. The fruit of that work is Flamingo, album released early this year and the track Crossfire, in which the singer video starring with Charlize Theron.
It must be said that deviations from the work of the Killers we see now: drifts less electronic sound cleaner and more traditional texts much more intimate and personal in some cases higher than those already written by the same very beautiful Flowers for his band. I'd also say that if you really want to find a point of contact with the discography of the band, you can find in Sam's Town , album in question (at least for critics), which contains some of those who are absolutely one of the best songs the band, as Read My Mind and When You Were Young.
The themes of the album are essentially three: the city of Las Vegas in the main, where Flowers was very close, as it had transferred groped his luck as a musician and, ironically, a symbol of almost everything that religion the singer divorces, because he is Mormon practitioner. The other two major themes of the disc are religiosity and spirituality, as evidenced by the songs Magdalena , dedicated to the pilgrimage in the town, and On The Floor, and love, which finds ultimate expression in the three perhaps best songs from the album: the aforementioned Crossfire , Jilted Lovers & Broken Hearts (beautiful) and Hard Enough , sung in duet with the singer Jenny Lewis and dedicated to his wife, often away for work obligations.
The quality of songs, both on the "text" that music is always level, perhaps the only song that clashes with the rest of the work, as too pop and light, is Was It Something I Said? , which have never failed to please me.
closing, I can promote with excellent marks the solo debut of Brandon Flowers: usually when the lead singer of a band of cry is dedicated to such a project, leaving almost always a product trascurabilissimo, often far from the qualities expressed in the band of belonging. With Flamingo this does not happen: the author has been able to offer something different, more personal as already mentioned, but equally valid masterpiece written with The Killers. If you have a chance, Let him have a chance.
